A quiet “hidden gem” in the UK has been called a “bucket list must-see” by people who have visited.
Found in Porthcurno, Cornwall, this calm spot is loved for its “stunning views”. It sits high on the cliffs of South-West Cornwall and holds live shows all year, including plays, musicals, opera, concerts and family events.
Even though it looks like it has been there for centuries, it is actually less than a hundred years old.
Built by Rowena Cade, the theatre has been described as “pure magic” and “breathtaking” by visitors, says the Mirror.
While it is well-known by locals, the Minack Theatre also offers a peaceful escape for people travelling from far away.
In the 1930s, Rowena Cade carved the open-air theatre into the granite cliffs with her own hands, carrying stone and sand from the beach below.
Today, it is one of the most impressive outdoor theatres in the world, with the Atlantic Ocean creating a dramatic backdrop.
People on TripAdvisor have shared glowing reviews of the theatre, which holds a brilliant 4.7 star rating.
One visitor wrote: “Wow what a place! Little gem hidden away in Cornwall. Well worth going to take a look and take in the views. There was also a performance from a band with instrumental music which we sat and watched for a while. The views are unbelievable here!!”
Another shared: “Stunning views, gardens and hospitality and entrance fee good value. Loved the effort made to tell the story and it made my trip to Cornwall.”
A third reviewer said: “Utterly breathtaking. We went on March 20th as part of a bucket list and we were not disappointed.
Reading the astonishing history of this special place was in itself incredible. Seeing it in real life was amazing, we have vowed to book tickets for a performance.”
