England’s ‘most beautiful’ seaside town named a ‘perfect’ holiday spot

A town in North Yorkshire has been called one of the most beautiful places in the UK, and it’s a great choice for your next beach day.
The sun is out, and with another heatwave on the way, lots of us will be heading to the coast to enjoy the sea and grab a Mr Whippy ice cream.
While some people are flying off to Spain, France or Greece, staying in the UK and visiting a seaside town can be just as fun and much less hassle.
One of the best places to visit is Scarborough in North Yorkshire. This town on the east coast is well known for its long sandy beaches and amazing views over the North Sea.
It’s also a brilliant place for a longer break, with loads to see and do. From dramatic cliffs and Scarborough Castle to the nearby North York Moors, there’s much more here than just sunbathing.
Thanks to its views, history and natural beauty, Scarborough has received lots of praise from travel writers.
In 2023, Time Out magazine listed it as one of the top places to visit in the UK. CN Traveller even called it the “most beautiful seaside resort in England”.
The magazine said: “The impressive castle stands on a headland between the town’s two main bays. The steep cliffs stretch out in both directions, and the old part of the town climbs up the hill in a maze of winding streets with buildings from the Tudor times.”
Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre is also well known for hosting famous music acts. Big names like Madness, Fatboy Slim and even Will Smith are performing there this summer.
And of course, no trip is complete without time on the beach. Scarborough has two great ones to choose from: North Bay and South Bay.
