If you’re craving a beach getaway but can’t stretch to long-haul flights, this spot could be the perfect answer, and it’s right here in the UK.
The Caribbean is world-famous for its soft white sands and bright turquoise seas. But you don’t need to travel thousands of miles to find the same stunning views.
On the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, you’ll find this hidden gem beach. With dazzling white sand and clear blue water, it’s often described as one of the most breathtaking stretches of coast not just in Britain, but in Europe.
Luskentyre is among the biggest and most impressive beaches on Harris, and it has been recognised in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards as one of the UK’s very best.
It’s no surprise then that locals feel lucky to call this beautiful place home, with the beach remaining fairly quiet outside of peak summer months.
One visitor, Caz, shared a TikTok clip showing just how much Luskentyre looks like something straight out of the Caribbean.
“Scotland? Or the Caribbean?” she captioned the video, which showed her diving into the crystal-clear water on a sunny day.
Her friends were also filmed enjoying a game of football on the golden sands before cooling off with another swim.
The Isle of Harris has been enjoying weeks of sunshine and warm weather recently, meaning locals have had the chance to make the most of the beach before crowds of tourists arrive.
Viewers were quick to react in the comments, with many refusing to believe the video was filmed in Scotland.
“This is not Scotland,” one person insisted, while another asked: “Where on earth are you finding beaches like this in the UK?”
