The UK’s best road trip has been revealed as an 18-mile journey that takes in lovely villages, rolling countryside, and grand historic houses.
This beautiful drive has been named the most attraction-packed road trip in the world, with peaceful villages, countryside views, and stately homes along the way.
A study by InsureandGo looked at famous road trips around the globe to see which had the most sights to stop and see – and the Peak District came out on top.
In second place was Germany’s scenic Black Forest High Road, and third was Hawaii’s Hana Highway, known for its rainforests, waterfalls, and ocean views.

The Peak District wasn’t the only UK route to make the top 10. Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coastal Route and Scotland’s Highland Tourist Route came in fifth and seventh. Wales' Coastal Way also made the list at number nine.
Announcing that the Peak District had taken first place, InsureandGo said: “This amazing drive winds through stunning English countryside and includes highlights like the historic village of Bakewell, where the famous Bakewell Pudding comes from, the impressive Chatsworth House, and even the famous theme park, Alton Towers.”
Another great stop on the route is Buxton, a historic spa town known for its Georgian and Victorian buildings, fresh spring water, and lovely parks.

Don’t miss the village of Castleton, which has a unique cave system and the remains of Peveril Castle – thought to be one of the first Norman castles built after 1066.
Book lovers might also enjoy a visit to Hathersage, which appears in Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. Nearby North Lees Hall is said to have inspired Thornfield Hall, the home of Mr Rochester.
Also in Hathersage is the supposed grave of Little John, one of Robin Hood’s Merry Men. Even though no one knows for sure if he was real, the grave at St. Michael’s Church is still an interesting stop.
Fans of Pride and Prejudice will be pleased to know that Chatsworth House featured as Mr Darcy’s Pemberley in the 2005 film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
