A hidden gem on the Wirral offers amazing coastal views, peaceful countryside walks – and a beach that feels like a little slice of Cornwall.
This quiet village blends the beauty of the countryside with the calm of the seaside.
Tucked away on the Wirral Peninsula, it’s just a 30-minute drive from Liverpool, making it a perfect escape for anyone wanting a break from busy city life.
Surrounded by green fields and lovely sea views, this place is a favourite spot for walkers, nature fans, and anyone who enjoys taking life a bit slower.
One of the best things about Thurstaston is its beach. It may be small, but the views across the Dee Estuary are just as good as those in Cornwall.
One person on TripAdvisor said the beach is "absolutely stunning" and that it always feels "really special" when they visit.
You can reach the beach by walking down wooden steps from Wirral Country Park, where peaceful views of North Wales stretch out ahead of you.
The beach sits below steep clay cliffs, making it a lovely, quiet place to spend a relaxing day by the water.
On sunny days, you can see right across to the Welsh coast, including the well-known hills of Snowdonia.
Thurstaston also has a rich past. It’s part of the Wirral Heritage Trail, and you can spot bits of history at places like the Thurstaston Village War Memorial and the old church of St. Bartholomew's.
The church dates back to the 12th century and has beautiful stained-glass windows, showing how long the village has been around.
History lovers will also enjoy the Wirral Way – a former railway line that now offers a scenic path through the village for walkers, cyclists, and nature fans.
