Secret seaside town home to one of the UK’s best beaches and two hidden treasures

This seaside town in the north of England is getting ready for a big rise in visitors when a £100 million project is finished in 2028, but it’s worth checking out before the crowds arrive.

With the cost of living being so high, lots of families are choosing to holiday in the UK instead of going abroad.

And even though a beach trip overseas can be tempting, the recent warm weather shows you don’t always need a plane for some sun.

One small town in northern England that you might not have heard of has just been named as having one of the best beaches in the country – and it might soon get much busier.

Morecambe, on the Lancashire coast, was a very popular holiday spot in the 1950s.

Things went quieter for a while, but that could all change with the new Eden Project Morecambe, which is set to open in late 2028.

If you want to visit before everyone else does, Morecambe North Beach has just made it onto the Daily Telegraph’s list of Britain’s 20 Greatest Beaches. There are also two secret landmarks worth seeing while you're there.

Looking out across the Irish Sea, Morecambe North is a wide sandy beach with lovely views and a friendly, family feel. Close by, there’s a promenade full of fun places like ice cream shops, arcades, and classic chippies.

Kids will enjoy the art pieces and puzzles along the seafront, while bird lovers can spot gulls, starlings, and oystercatchers along the beach.

The area is watched over by The Midland, a beautiful old art deco hotel that’s been standing by the sea since 1933.

The hotel is famous for its afternoon teas and stylish design. It’s even been used in films and TV shows, including The Entertainer with Laurence Olivier and Agatha Christie’s Poirot.
