Surfing haven with a stunning harbour crowned the UK’s ‘most beautiful autumn town’

A surfing hotspot in Cornwall, known for its golden beaches and lively art scene, has been praised as one of the best places in the UK to visit all year round, not just during the summer months.
This place has officially been named one of the “most beautiful autumn towns” by Premier Inn, which said that the cooler months are the “perfect time to enjoy the beaches without the crowds.”
This historic seaside town in southwest England is famous for its beautiful coastline, which attracts visitors and surfers from all over the world.
The beaches include Harbour Beach, Porthmeor, Porthminster, Porthgwidden, Carbis Bay, Bamaluz, Lambeth Walk and Porthkidney.
Three of these beaches, Porthminster, Porthmeor and Carbis Bay, have been awarded Blue Flag status this year, a respected international mark of excellence for clean water, safety and environmental care.
Carbis Bay and Harbour Beach also won TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice 2025 awards.
One visitor described Harbour Beach as “a beautiful part of Cornwall full of charm,” while another said: “I’ve never seen anywhere in the UK as stunning as St Ives beach. It feels like being abroad, it’s truly breathtaking.”
Carbis Bay has also been called “absolutely beautiful” and “well worth the walk down the hill.”
Another reviewer shared: “Paddleboarding at Carbis Bay Beach in St Ives is such a wonderful experience. The golden sand and clear blue water make it the perfect place for a relaxing day of fun and adventure.”
For those who like to stay active, there are plenty of watersports to try, including surfing and paddleboarding, along with tennis and golf.
St Ives is also famous for its creative side, home to an inspiring art scene with must-visit spots like Tate St Ives, the St Ives Arts Club and Leach Pottery.
