The loveliest valley in England that every visitor rates a perfect five out of five

A breathtaking valley in England has gained a perfect score for its amazing views, peaceful paths and soft green hills.

This place in the Lake District, Cumbria, offers gentle walking routes and scenery that feels almost magical.

The sweeping hills and deep green woodland are so charming that artists and writers have turned to them for inspiration for generations.

One of the most famous was Beatrix Potter, who spent ten summers in the Lake District. She loved the landscapes so much that she chose them as the setting for The Tales of Mrs Tiggywinkle, even sketching local places in her illustrations.

Right in the heart of the valley is a quiet spot where a 16th century church stands.

Newlands Church has stayed beautifully untouched, a soft white building with stained glass windows created in honour of a soldier from the First World War.

In spring, the churchyard becomes a sea of snowdrops and daffodils growing around its old stone memorials.

When William Wordsworth visited in May 1826, he was so taken by the sight of the church peeping through the trees during his walk that he wrote a verse about it in his poem “To May.”

It is not only famous creatives who have been amazed by the valley’s beauty. Visitors have filled Google reviews with nothing but five star ratings.

One person wrote: “Simply stunning. Well worth visiting.” Another loved the calm atmosphere, saying: “A beautiful place to enjoy a peaceful walk in the sunshine.” A third added: “A lovely area of Cumbria. Fab walks.”

Newlands Valley is only a 15 minute drive from the busy market town of Keswick. Travellers can reach it by driving along the A66 and passing through the village of Braithwaite.

Trains from London Euston to Penrith, the nearest station to the valleys, take just under three and a half hours. As this beauty spot is quite remote, a connecting bus is needed to carry you deeper into the wonderful scenery.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
