The must visit waterfall walk that makes the perfect day out from Greater Manchester

Greater Manchester has some lovely countryside of its own, but if you head across to North Wales you will find wild mountains, sandy beaches and waterfalls almost everywhere you look.

North Wales is especially famous for its waterfalls. It is home to the tallest waterfall in Wales, which drops an impressive 240 feet.

One of the easiest waterfalls to visit is set within Snowdonia, also known as Eryri National Park. It is about two miles from the village of Abergwyngregyn and not far from the seaside town of Llanfairfechan.

With a drop of around 120 feet, it may not be the tallest in Wales but it is certainly one of the most beautiful. The water pours down a rocky cliff into a deep pool in the valley below.

Aber Falls has appeared in many TikTok videos, including one shared by user @adventureamore1 that gained more than 50,000 likes. The caption called it “absolutely magical whatever season” and said it looked “straight out of a fairytale”.

The post also said: “The Aber Falls walk takes you along a magical trail through ancient woodland to one of Wales’ most incredible waterfalls.”

As well as its stunning scenery, what makes Aber Falls stand out is how easy it is to reach compared with other waterfall walks, which are often more remote or difficult to access.

Visitors can leave their car at the Aber Falls Car Park, where it costs £5 for the day and payment is by cash.

From there, a 1.2 mile path leads to the waterfall and usually takes about 30 minutes to walk, depending on your pace.

The car park can fill up quickly, so it is a good idea to arrive early to secure a space. The walk itself is simple to follow, with two route options.

One path runs alongside the river and is slightly more challenging, while the other is easier and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
