The Welsh coastal path is dotted with lovely little towns and quiet staycation spots that keep people coming back, and this place may be one of the most appealing of them all.
With its pastel-coloured Georgian houses wrapped around the harbour, its brilliant independent food scene and the natural beauty of Cardigan Bay, it is a place that deserves a spot on your travel list.
The town was first planned in the early 19th century by Rev Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne, who designed it around a working harbour and a thriving shipbuilding industry.

That same harbour remains the heart of the community today, where fishing boats bob alongside kayaks and visitors tuck into fresh seafood while taking in sweeping views across Cardigan Bay.
Aberaeron’s elegant Regency buildings, set around Alban Square and along the waterfront, are now home to independent shops, cafés and guesthouses, giving the town a unique charm that sets it apart from other Welsh countryside favourites.
Unsurprisingly, social media is full of travel posts and influencer clips showing off holidays in Aberaeron, with many praising its beautiful setting and lively harbour life.
“Is this the prettiest town in Wales?” asks Christopher Lee, @christopherlevans, during a visit earlier this year as part of a travel series exploring the country’s loveliest spots.
“Just look at the buildings, I’m honestly obsessed,” Christopher tells his 45,000 followers, adding that the town was “so busy” during his summer trip.
“Look at the streets, there are colours everywhere… this is definitely one of the top contenders because everyone is so friendly, there’s loads to do and it’s really lively.”

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
