The UK has some of the most stunning coastlines in the world, yet many people often choose holidays abroad instead.
But one charming little village is well worth a visit before the colder weather arrives.
Every summer, people from Britain head off to Spain, Greece and France for sunshine and sandy beaches.
Yet one special place here in the UK should not be overlooked. A visitor shared her trip online, saying she could hardly believe this spot was actually in Britain.
On TikTok, user @flossys_wonderland explained: “I’m on a mission to find places around the UK that make people say ‘I can’t believe this is in the UK’ and I feel the same way.” Her video revealed crystal-clear sea and bright blue skies.
She continued: “I want to change people’s minds by showing how beautiful our country can be. I’ve started with a beach near Penzance in Cornwall that looks like it could belong in Mallorca or even Ibiza.”
This hidden beach is called Pedn Vounder, and it sits close to the village of Porthcurno.
Reaching the beach is not straightforward, as it involves following a coastal path and then a short scramble down to reach the quiet, sandy spot.
In the comments, one visitor said: “Pedn Vounder is the best beach in the UK. It completely amazed me when I saw it for the first time. It’s every bit as good as beaches anywhere else in the world!”
Another wrote: “I went there at 5 in the morning to catch the sunrise. Even though it rises on the other side, the whole place was ours to enjoy. It was honestly magical.”
Porthcurno lies at the very tip of the Penwith Peninsula, the most westerly part of Cornwall.
While visiting, you can grab a traditional Cornish pasty, admire the views and even explore a famous theatre built into the cliffs.
Driving is the easiest way to reach Porthcurno, but if you don’t have a car, regular summer buses run from Penzance. A must-see while in the area is the Minack Theatre, built into the cliffside.
The theatre overlooks the bay, offering breathtaking ocean views in one of the most unique settings in the country.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
