Britain’s best saltwater pool revealed and it’s a stunning coastal paradise

The UK’s best saltwater pool has been revealed, and it’s a favourite with visitors.

Found just west of Padstow on Cornwall’s north coast, it’s loved for its stunning seaside setting and fascinating geological features, including its naturally formed swimming pool.

Carved into the rocks, the pool fills with seawater at mid-tide, creating the feeling that you’re swimming right on the edge of the world.

While taking a dip, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean in a location steeped in history and charm.

The pool even appeared in the BBC’s adaptation of Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers. Locals still affectionately call it Tinker Bunny’s Bathing Pool.

There’s also a cosy wood-fired sauna on the beach nearby, perfect for warming up on cooler days.

For the best experience, time your visit a few hours either side of low tide. Summer draws the biggest crowds, thanks to the pool’s visibility from the coastal path, attracting tourists and local families alike.

Winter offers a quieter swim, but you’ll need to check tide times, as the spot is exposed to the Atlantic’s powerful swells and crashing waves.

As well as being a great place for a swim, the pool helps support local marine life. Its rocky shoreline, along with nearby rockpools, provide a home for fish, crabs, sea anemones and other fascinating sea creatures.

The Trevone Bay natural swimming pool is open to swimmers of all ages and abilities.

However, getting there means crossing rocky ground that can be slippery, so it’s worth taking extra care on your way down.
