Charming Cornish village filled with storybook cottages and picture-perfect views

A keen traveller says they’ve found “the prettiest fishing village in Cornwall.”

With its chocolate-box cottages and breathtaking sea views, it’s easy to see why this spot is winning people over.

This hidden gem, near Helston, sits on the stunning Lizard Peninsula and looks like it’s come straight off a postcard.

Visit Cornwall explains: “You have to be a little adventurous to explore the eastern side of the Lizard, where winding lanes lead to small coastal communities such as Porthallow, Coverack and Cadgwith.”

They add: “Cadgwith itself is one of those classic Cornish fishing villages famous for its beauty.

“The thatched cottages tucked into the tiny cove have inspired photographers and painters for generations.

Fishermen still pull their boats up onto the beach each evening before heading to the local pub for a pint, especially after a good day’s catch.”

TikTok creator @onlythehighlights_ was clearly impressed, calling Cadgwith “the most picturesque fishing village in England.” They said: “The prettiest fishing village in Cornwall to visit with your dog.

On the Lizard Peninsula, this little fishing port is small but absolutely stunning. It’s like stepping into a postcard, full of chocolate-box cottages and narrow paths leading to the harbour.”

The traveller also shared a few tips for anyone planning a visit. They wrote: “Stop by the Cadgwith Cove Inn, they have sea shanty nights!

We sadly missed it but definitely plan your trip around one. The main beach (fishing cove beach) is dog friendly all year, but the other side has some restrictions in summer.”

They added: “There’s no parking in the village itself, so you’ll need to leave your car at Cadgwith Car Park and walk down.

Don’t miss a walk to the Devil’s Frying Pan, a dramatic coastal feature formed from the collapsed roof of a sea cave (but keep your dog on a lead). Some parts aren’t fully accessible.”

People in the comments loved the video. One person said: “Gorgeous place, have been there many times over the years,” to which @onlythehighlights_ replied: “It’s so lovely!!!”

Another viewer added: “Looks like a gorgeous place,” and the travel blogger responded: “Such a fun place to explore!!!”

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
