Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some of Wales’ prettiest villages and seaside towns.
In fact, this time of year might be the best time to visit, as there are fewer crowds.
This hidden gem, often overshadowed by its well-known neighbour Abersoch, is just a five-minute drive from the popular coastal resort on the LlÅ·n Peninsula.
Despite being smaller, Llandbedrog has everything you could want for a peaceful getaway.
There’s a sheltered sandy beach lined with brightly coloured beach huts, an award-winning beach bar, lovely woodland walks, a cosy local pub and even a thriving art scene. It may be a quiet village, but it’s full of charm and makes for a perfect day out.
To get to Llandbedrog, you’ll travel along the country lanes of the A497 before joining the A499. The village sits neatly between two of the Llŷn Peninsula’s most famous spots, Abersoch to the west and Pwllheli to the east.
If you’re driving through Pwllheli on your way, it’s worth stopping at the Spar Glandon store on Caernarfon Road.
Known as one of the fanciest Spars in the world, it sells everything from dry-aged beef and fresh lobster to your everyday essentials like milk and newspapers.
Traeth Llandbedrog has a convenient car park that’s open all day, making it easy to leave your car and explore.

A short 200-metre walk down a steep path brings you to the beach, a stunning stretch of sand looking out across Cardigan Bay. In summer, it’s a perfect spot for a swim or a gentle paddle in the calm sea.
In autumn and winter, the mile-long beach becomes a peaceful place for a walk, where you can watch oystercatchers and curlews searching for food along the shore.
Even on cloudy days, the colourful huts in shades of red, yellow, blue and turquoise brighten the beach. These iconic huts have been part of Traeth Llandbedrog since Victorian times.
Back then, a tramway linked the village to Pwllheli, and although it no longer exists, the historic beach huts remain as a charming reminder of the past.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
