Hidden beach with ‘crystal blue water’ and ‘secret rock pools’ named a gem

With sunny weather on the horizon, many people will be on the lookout for the perfect beach escape.

For anyone heading to Cornwall, one social media user has revealed a true “hidden gem” worth discovering.

Cornwall is packed with gorgeous bays and beaches, many well known to locals. But for visitors from further away, this hidden beach is a slightly lesser-known spot that deserves attention.

Located in North Cornwall, about 11 miles from Newquay, the beach is dog-friendly all year round.

The Cornwall Beach Guide describes it as “an excellent family beach with lots of sand, rock pools and great conditions for surfing.”

The beach was recently shown off in a TikTok video by @hannahrebecca__, who told her followers: “You need to visit this hidden gem in the UK.”

Her clip showed families jumping from rocks into clear blue water. One commenter wrote: “Soooo blue.” Hannah replied: “Just so pretty.”

Treyarnon Bay Beach has also won praise on Tripadvisor, where it is ranked as one of the top things to do in St Merryn.

One reviewer said: “What a stunning place. If you like food and drinks, visit Treyarnon Beach. If you love diving into lagoons or rock pools, visit Treyarnon Beach.

“If you want to sit on golden sand watching the waves roll in, visit Treyarnon Beach. Rock pooling, swimming, building sandcastles, relaxing – you don’t need to fly anywhere else in the world when you have places like this in England. Absolutely breathtaking. A must-see if you are in Cornwall!”

Another visitor shared: “Amazing bay with a beautiful beach and great surfing to watch. It’s dog friendly too, so our Staffy had the best time chasing his ball.

At low tide you’ll find fantastic rock pools, some so big and deep that you can swim in them!”

A different review added: “This bay is wonderful. Great for wave watching, bodyboarding and surfing, but the currents can be strong so stay between the lifeguard flags.

When the tide goes out it reveals more rock pools as well as a tidal pool.”

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
