Huge woodland full of waterfalls that you can enjoy without needing to hike

Nestled in the heart of Wales, a peaceful walking spot awaits within a huge woodland, offering beautiful views without the effort of a long hike.
This hidden gem has been attracting plenty of keen walkers who want to enjoy its natural beauty for themselves.
Found near Llanidloes and named after the River Severn, known locally as Afon Hafren, the area has scenic trails that include an easy to use boardwalk.
The river winds gently through the forest, revealing a chain of lovely waterfalls and cascades.
Freshwater fish can be seen swimming through its clear water, and the surrounding trees are home to a variety of wildlife, including some rare birds.
Managed by Natural Resources Wales, the forest is cared for not only for its beauty but also as a working site for timber production and as a place for events. It is used for several 4x4 events and rallies, and has even welcomed the Wales Rally GB.
For walkers, there are many paths to choose from, with two trails standing out as favourites.
The Cascades Walk is one of them, featuring a wheelchair accessible boardwalk that winds through the woodland and leads to a viewing platform overlooking the waterfalls.
Another choice for those who want a longer adventure at Hafren Forest is the Source of the Severn Trail, which takes you deeper into the forest and right to the river’s source.
Here you can watch the stream weave through the trees and enjoy amazing views along the way.

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
