Bath’s Christmas market opens this week as the historic city takes on a fairytale glow. The world famous market welcomed local residents on Wednesday, November 26 and opens to everyone from Thursday, November 27.

The market draws around 444,000 visitors to Bath and brought in £60.4 million for local businesses in 2024.

There are more than 250 stalls to wander through in the old city, set among its warm golden Georgian buildings.

Bath’s cobbled streets and elegant crescents are decorated with festive lights, giving the city even more charm. It has even been voted the favourite medium sized city by Which?

They awarded four stars for both the food and drink choices and the cultural sights in the consumer survey. Now, Bath is ready to shine even more this Christmas, as the market marks its 25th anniversary.

Chalets are set up against the grand backdrop of Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths. Rows of stalls offer artisan gifts, handmade crafts and tasty festive snacks.

Expect carol singers and the smell of mulled wine as you browse displays from local makers. Most of the traders come from the South West and bring their very best products.

You can find everything from garden sculptures to handmade wooden furniture, knitwear to perfumes and even presents for pets.

The fun continues with an ice rink in Royal Victoria Park, giving visitors another reason to linger and enjoy the winter atmosphere.

Rachel Charlton of Cherry Tree Preserves, who is trading at this year’s market and also had a stall in 2001, told Somerset Live: “Over the years, Bath has played a key role in supporting our business and we now have a bigger group of Cherry Tree fans because, we believe, they discovered us at the market year after year.”

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
