An idyllic campsite in Gwynedd has been praised as “out of this world” and named one of the best in Britain.
Set beside a river and close to a tumbling waterfall, the woodland site in Eryri National Park has even been described by visitors as having a “fairytale” feel.
This waterfall campsite sits in the dramatic Rhinog mountains yet is only two miles from Shell Island and its sandy shores near Llanbedr, which was recently crowned the best beach in Wales by The Times and Sunday Times Best UK Beaches guide.

Nantcol Waterfalls made it onto a list of 150 top-rated sites put together by Campsites.co.uk, which features more than 3,200 locations across the country.
Nineteen other North Wales campsites were also recognised, showing just how popular the region is for UK staycations.
Running right through the site is the River Nantcol, perfect for paddling, wild swimming or even a spot of fishing.
Just 100 metres away is the waterfall the site is named after. Alongside traditional tent pitches, there are cosy glamping pods complete with TV, WiFi, underfloor heating and firepits for hire.
Last year, the campsite was named the UK’s very best, and guests seem to agree, giving it a near-perfect 4.89-star rating.
One happy camper wrote: “The only sounds are birds, the river and the odd sheep. It really is paradise, we didn’t want to leave.”
Another visitor added: “We’ve finally found our happy place. The campsite is beautifully maintained, eco-friendly, and designed to protect the natural surroundings.”
Nantcol Waterfalls also offers optional electric grass pitches for tents and tourers, as well as waterside bell tents and luxury glamping pods.
Brand new for this year are a wood-fired sauna and the option to hire a motorhome.

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
