Peaceful golden beach only reachable by one-hour walk stays crowd-free

The only green flag beach in North Wales, this hidden gem is one of the quietest and most beautiful spots around.

With soft golden sand, grassy dunes, and a small pine forest nearby, it feels like a hidden paradise. It's also known as Silver Bay because it’s close to a nearby holiday village and sits in a curved bay on the south side of Anglesey’s Holy Island.

It’s great for exploring rock pools because of the rocky edges around the bay. Just out at sea, there’s a small tower that looks like a mini castle. It used to be a fancy bathing house for the Bodior Estate, and it adds a nice historic feel to the beach.

Some people think this place is like a quieter version of the more famous Traeth Llanddwyn at Newborough.

The shallow water makes it ideal for swimming, kayaking, or sailing. Dogs are also welcome all year round, which makes it popular with pet owners who like a beach walk with their furry friends.

One reason the beach stays peaceful is because cars aren’t allowed in. There is a big car park nearby, but it’s only for people staying at the holiday park. And staff there don’t let anyone sneak through without permission.

Most people who visit park at Borth Wen, the beach next door, and walk along the Anglesey Coastal Path to get to Traeth Llydan. It can take up to an hour, but the walk is full of stunning views across to Eryri, making it a lovely part of the trip.

If you’re thinking of parking at Borth Wen, it’s best to arrive early as it can get packed. Another way to reach the beach is to walk or cycle along the quiet roads near Silver Bay Holiday Park and follow the path through the pine trees.

One person who visited called it a "beautiful beach." Someone else said it was "an absolutely beautiful beach unspoiled by tourism."

Most people agree that it’s "never busy," and those staying at the nearby holiday park are "lucky to have it" so close. A visitor also said: "One of the prettiest bays I’ve seen in a long time. The water is really clear and perfect for swimming. It doesn’t get too deep either."

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
