Seaside island with stunning scenery named one of the best places to visit this autumn

While many people flock to the seaside in summer, there are plenty of coastal spots that are just as lovely when the weather turns cooler.

One of the best autumn escapes is this a peaceful island just off the north-west coast of Wales.

With stunning scenery, rich wildlife, and historic landmarks, it’s the perfect place for long walks and a relaxing getaway.

Holiday Cottages recently named Anglesey one of the top places to visit in the UK during autumn.

The company said: “It’s no surprise that with over 125 miles of coastline, fascinating history and a laid-back atmosphere, Anglesey is a favourite choice for Welsh autumn holidays.”

One of the island’s standout sights is the Menai Suspension Bridge, which opened in 1826 and is considered one of the world’s first modern suspension bridges.

Another must-see attraction is the South Stack Lighthouse, located on the island’s far west coast.

Visitors can reach the lighthouse by climbing 400 steps carved into the cliffside. Once there, they can explore the engine room and climb to the top for incredible sea views. It’s also a dream spot for birdwatchers, who can often spot puffins, choughs, guillemots and razorbills.

One TripAdvisor review said: “Fantastic lighthouse with amazing views of the surrounding area, and we even saw dolphins nearby.” Another wrote: “An unforgettable experience. The cliffs, the birdlife and the lighthouse itself are truly spectacular.”

Beaumaris Castle is another popular stop for visitors. Built under King Edward I in the 13th century, it was never fully completed but remains a fascinating piece of history.

One reviewer said: “The views are absolutely stunning. We loved exploring the castle and then relaxing in the grounds while our children played. Definitely worth visiting!”

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
