As the weather starts to warm up, many people feel excited to head outside and enjoy the natural world again.
One lovely way to do this is by going for a gentle walk or packing a picnic in the Peak District, where you can relax near beautiful waterfalls.
Derbyshire is packed with stunning water sights, from grand waterfalls at historic estates to quiet streams hidden in the countryside.
One lesser known walk in the Peak District lets you see seven waterfalls one after another.
Found on the western side of the national park close to the village of Tintwistle, this 5km route is suitable for people who do not walk long distances often.
We recently visited this peaceful spot and have put together a guide to help others enjoy it too.
Before setting off on any Peak District walk, it is important to plan ahead by learning the route, wearing the right clothes and carrying proper equipment, as well as knowing what to do in an emergency.
If you want tips on how to prepare for a safe walk in the Peak District, visit the Edale Mountain Rescue Team website.
The route begins near Arnfield Reservoir in Tintwistle, with the nearest postcode being SK13 1HP. Parking is limited, but we were able to leave the car on the roadside during our visit.
From the reservoir, walk up Crossgate Lane until you pass a farm, where you might even see a peacock roaming around, and reach a T junction.
Turn left onto Arnfield Lane and walk for around 300 metres until you reach Gamekeeper Cottage.
Just past the cottage, you will find a gate and a footpath. Go through the gate and follow the path for about 1.3km.
The route gently climbs uphill and is easy to follow, especially once you pass through a gate between two large wooded areas.
Carry on along the path until you notice a small pile of stones made by people, then turn left down a narrow footpath. If you do not spot the stones, take the first footpath on the left after passing through the woodland gate.
After walking for a short while, you will begin to hear and then see the seven waterfalls. Each one is different, with some softly flowing and others crashing loudly through the rocks.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
