The breathtaking Welsh waterfall you can swim beneath that features in the BBC series Death Valley

We all know Wales is a beautiful place, and we are lucky to have some of the best scenery in the world right on our doorstep.

Now those stunning views are appearing on TV once again in the BBC’s new comedy crime series, Death Valley.

The show follows Detective Janie Mallowan, played by Gwyneth Keyworth, and retired TV detective John Chapel, played by Timothy Spall, as they team up to solve crimes in the Cynon Valley.

Although the story is set in Mountain Ash, filming actually took place across different parts of South Wales.

You might be watching the second episode and finding yourself wondering where the breathtaking landscapes were filmed.

In one scene, the walking group is shown hiking through Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons, beside the stunning Blaen y Glyn waterfalls, where they make a shocking discovery at the bottom of the falls.

Gwyneth Keyworth has even said this was her favourite filming location, and it is easy to see why.

The waterfall is located in Talybont Forest within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Visitors can reach it by walking from one of two nearby car parks, Blaen y Glyn Isaf which is the lower car park, or Blaen y Glyn Uchaf which is the upper one.

Each walk has a different difficulty level, according to Natural Resources Wales. The Lower Blaen y Glyn Waterfall Walk is classed as moderate, covering 0.8 miles there and back and taking around 45 minutes.

The route is not signposted, so walkers are advised to check the information board in the car park first.

The Upper Blaen y Glyn Waterfall Walk is more challenging, with a one mile round trip that usually takes between one and one and a half hours.

This trail is also not marked, but a suggested route can be found on the car park information panel.

After a long or tiring walk, visitors can cool off with a swim in the waterfalls, as many have small pools at the bottom. If the water feels too cold, there are also plenty of flat rocks nearby where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful views.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
