Secluded UK beach with waterfalls that can only be reached on foot

As the UK prepares for Autumn, more people are choosing quiet, hidden spots instead of packed seaside towns.

One of these gems is this beautiful and tucked-away cove on the North Yorkshire coast where a waterfall flows straight into the sea, a view that never fails to impress those who find it.

Situated between Whitby and Scarborough, this hidden gem gives visitors a true sense of being off the beaten path.

You can only reach it by walking through peaceful woodland in a nature reserve, which makes the bay feel untouched and secret.

The woodland trail opens out onto a rocky shore surrounded by high cliffs, with the highlight being a natural waterfall that trickles over mossy rocks before meeting the waves of the North Sea.

Experts at Simply Sea Views say that places like this are the best way to enjoy the coast without the stress of crowds.

A spokesperson explained: “These hidden bays are perfect for a weekend in the sunshine.”

“They give you raw, natural beauty, a calmer atmosphere, and the chance to truly relax.”

This special mix of woodland and sea has won over visitors, with Hayburn Wyke earning glowing reviews on TripAdvisor.

One visitor wrote: “Absolutely magical. The forest walk was so calm, and when we got to the beach it felt like stepping into another world. The waterfall is breathtaking, I’ve never seen anything like it in the UK.”

Another added that the peace and quiet was the real highlight: “It’s so still, you only hear the birds, the water, and the breeze.

A proper escape from busy crowds. Wear good shoes though, the walk is a little tricky, but it’s worth every step.”

The cove is also a hit with families and dog walkers. Many say it’s great that dogs are welcome all year round, and it’s an ideal spot for a picnic after the walk down.

One review read: “It’s perfect for children and pets. Our two loved climbing on the rocks and splashing near the waterfall. Just be careful and check the tide times first.”

Unlike traditional seaside resorts, you won’t find beach huts or noisy arcades here, and that’s exactly why Hayburn Wyke feels so special.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
