A little-known beach on the south coast of England gives visitors the chance to swim in clear blue water all year round, as well as explore brilliant diving spots filled with dozens of old shipwrecks.
Often described as one of the Lizard Peninsula’s secret treasures, this quiet sandy beach in southern Cornwall is a favourite for people who like peaceful spots away from the crowds.
This beach stays much calmer than the more famous beaches nearby, mostly because it is tucked away in a more remote corner of the coast.
Stretching for around 300 metres and joining onto Leggan Cove, Godrevy Cove sits between Porthoustock and the quarries at Dean.
Review site Cornish-Beaches explains that "unlike many of the lesser-known beaches around the Cornish coast, there are no steep cliffs to climb, you won’t get trapped by the tide, and there’s no special reason why you shouldn’t head into the sea here," offering a detailed look at Cornwall’s 150-plus beaches.
Behind the sand, visitors will find a flat grassy patch and some marshland, home to lots of different wildlife.
Many creatures can also be spotted around the Manacles Reef, a well-known area on the Lizard Peninsula.

Some people believe around 100 shipwrecks rest beneath the water by the reef, which was named a Marine Conservation Zone back in 2013.
Cornish-Beaches notes that "the coast path near here is rerouted around the quarry at Porthoustock, so it’s best to use the footpath from Rosenithon rather than try to search for other routes," adding that Rosenithon is a short walk east of St Keverne and that the footpath leads gently through fields and down to Godrevy Cove.
Visitors should remember that there are no facilities at this quiet spot and no lifeguards on duty, and roadside parking is very limited, with the nearest spaces a 15-minute walk away in Rosenithon.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
