The best beach in the UK is a hidden gem that feels just ‘like the Seychelles’

White sandy beaches and clear blue waters usually make people think of holidays in the Seychelles.

But one beach in the UK is so stunning, it could easily be mistaken for a tropical island.

With its bright blue sea and dramatic rocks, it’s the perfect choice if you’re after a beautiful getaway without flying abroad.

This pebble-filled beach sits on the Cornish coast, around 10 miles from Penzance, and is surrounded by steep cliffs.

It’s famous for its amazing rock shapes and natural pools, and since there’s no road leading to it, you’ll need to take a walk through the countryside to get there.

There are a few ways to reach this hidden spot, but whichever one you choose, it will involve a bit of a hike.

Most people take the coastal path from Land’s End or from Porthgwarra Beach – both are about a mile long and have official car parks.

To get down onto the beach, you have to climb down a steep wooden staircase, then carefully cross over rocks and pebbles to reach the sand.

There are no lifeguards on duty, and Cornwall Beaches recommends checking the tide times before you go.

If you do make the journey to Nanjizal Bay, there’s plenty more nearby to enjoy. The beach is just a 10-minute drive (or a 40-minute walk) from Land’s End, one of the UK’s best-known tourist spots.

Land’s End, close to Penzance, is the most south-westerly point in mainland Britain and is home to huge granite cliffs that rise 200 feet above the Atlantic Ocean.
