The stunning walking trail with a ‘magical’ waterfall and two charming pubs

This stunning waterfall walk is a firm favourite among hikers, taking around an hour and a half to complete, and finishing at two cosy village pubs.
This trail is especially beautiful in spring when the path on the Pennine Way is lined with colourful bluebells and the scent of wild garlic fills the air.
The trail winds its way up to a picturesque waterfall where crystal-clear water tumbles into a peaceful pool surrounded by ash, birch, and hazel trees.
Its name has fascinating roots in Yorkshire’s Norse history, with “foss” meaning waterfall. The “Janet” part comes from a local legend about a fairy queen who was said to live behind the falls.
The route also takes in Malham Cove, an enormous curved limestone cliff with deep grooves carved into its surface, offering breathtaking views from 260 feet above Malhamdale Cross.
One visitor recently shared: “Absolutely loved this trail. There’s a cute coffee and food truck along the way that takes card and is really reasonably priced.”
Parking is available at the Malham National Park car park, just a short stroll from the village centre. A local farmer has also opened an additional car park nearby for visitors.
According to an analysis by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, online searches for the Malham Landscape Trail have risen by 100%, thanks to growing popularity on TikTok and Google.
