The UK’s very own ‘mini Ibiza’ with 85 pubs named the nation’s happiest place to live

This lively market town has become known for its buzzing weekend scene, which attracts big crowds week after week.
Ibiza may be the go-to destination for party lovers who want to dance until sunrise, but it’s not the only place offering late-night fun.
The Spanish island saw over nine million passengers arrive last year, with one in five coming from the UK.
But Brits don’t need to jet off abroad to find the same energy. A small town in North Yorkshire has been nicknamed a “little Ibiza” thanks to its nightlife and the sheer number of pubs and bars.
In Skipton, the streets have been compared to Ibiza’s Sunset Strip, with reports of Keighley Road “booming with club music” every weekend from early evening until the early hours.
The party doesn’t stop there, as the town’s nightclub is said to keep going until 5am, with crowds spilling onto the streets well into the morning.
It may sound like a headache for locals, but many residents say it adds to the character of the town, which “always has something happening.”
According to TripAdvisor, Skipton, which sits on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, boasts an incredible 85 pubs and bars. From traditional inns to lively late-night venues, the town really comes alive on Friday and Saturday nights.
Samantha and Steph, who work at the Red Lion Pub, told Yorkshire Live: “Skipton is always busy, there is always something going on. The pubs are packed most of the time, especially on a weekend.”
The pair also praised the strong community spirit in the town.
They said: “It’s such a close-knit place and has even been named one of the happiest towns to live in. As the gateway to the Dales, it’s just lovely.”
Visitor Bret Hepper, who lives nearby, added: “We often come to Skipton for the pubs, usually the wine bars. It gets really lively at night, so we pop over quite a bit since Settle is just down the road.”
