This hidden trail is a well-loved walking route that runs 630 miles from Somerset all the way to Bournemouth.
Many people call it the best coastal walk in the UK, as it takes you through 300 seaside towns, villages, and some of the country’s most stunning beaches.
Beginning in Minehead in Somerset and ending in Poole in Bournemouth, the long trail gives walkers the chance to enjoy amazing views and explore a coastline full of variety.
The route includes hundreds of different trails, each with its own length and difficulty, so whether you enjoy long hikes or just want a gentle wander, there’s a walk to suit everyone.
The path is also popular with runners, who enjoy the beautiful scenery as they follow the many tracks and crossings along the route, each one offering something new.
The Independent listed it as one of “Europe’s best walks”, praising its “incredible coastal scenery” and “mix of different landscapes.”
The South West Coast Path passes through many favourite UK holiday spots, making it a great guide for planning a staycation. Falmouth, Polperro, Lyme Regis, and St Ives are just some of the well-loved places you can visit along the way.
From hidden coves to long sandy stretches, the path is lined with beaches that offer something for everyone. Saunton Sands in north Devon is popular with dog owners, while Perranporth Beach in Cornwall is famous for its great surfing.
Walkers have shared glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, where the path holds an excellent 4.8-star rating and has been called the “walk of a lifetime.” One person wrote: “We accessed the South West Coastal Path from Hartland Quay then walked to Speke’s Mill Mouth Waterfall.
Some dramatic sea views along the way and not too busy – we did meet several people but not that many considering it was the height of the summer tourist season.”
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
