Autumn is one of the best times for a weekend break. With the crisp air and colourful leaves, it’s also the perfect season to get outdoors and explore some of the UK’s most stunning countryside.
One hike has just been crowned the most popular in Britain, and it’s easy to see why.
This beautiful circular trail in Eryri National Park, Wales, is filled with fascinating ruins, historic remains, and a breathtaking waterfall.
The walk is 6.8 kilometres long and takes about two hours, though you can stretch it out if you want to slow down and enjoy the views.
The route is mostly gentle, with just a few steeper sections, making it suitable for walkers of different abilities.
However, it’s worth knowing that it’s a well-loved spot, so it can get very busy. To beat the crowds, it’s best to arrive early in the morning before the main rush of visitors.
On TripAdvisor, the hike has been called a “must visit”. One reviewer described Aber Falls as “a spectacular waterfall which, considering its location, is probably the most visited in Wales, along with Pistyll Rhaeadr.”
Another visitor shared their experience, saying: “I got very lucky when I went as heavy rain the night before had turned the waterfall into a monster.
The water was crashing down with such power that I couldn’t even get close to the base because of the spray. I was soaked from head to toe even standing 20 metres away!”
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
