The ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’, a village in Worcestershire, has earned praise for its “beautiful” and “untouched” character.
This hidden gem is a big hit in summer, but people are now being encouraged to discover how lovely it is in winter too.
In fact, BBC’s Countryfile listed it as one of the best places in the UK for a winter break.
Resting beneath Fish Hill, Broadway is only about two hours from central London by car.
Countryfile recommends that visitors “stroll slowly along the high street”, enjoying the pubs, little shops and cafés before heading out into the surrounding Cotswold hills.
Visitors can admire the historic buildings along the high street before checking out some of the village’s attractions. The Design Museum, found inside Gordon Russell’s original Grade II-listed workshop, celebrates his famous furniture designs.
One of the biggest highlights is Broadway Tower, set within a 50-acre park. It gives breathtaking views over the landscape, and on a clear day you can see across 16 counties.
The Broadway Museum and Art Gallery, located in a beautiful 17th-century building, also gives visitors the chance to learn more about the village’s long and interesting past.
For those who love animals, the Cotswold Farm Park is only a 20-minute drive away. Here you can meet more than 50 rare breeds and even hold chicks or stroke rabbits, making it a great outing for families.
Broadway has received lots of positive comments from visitors who adore its pretty architecture and wide range of things to see.
One person wrote on TripAdvisor: “Just beautiful, lots of shops and places to eat and drink. Best visited out of season so you can appreciate the buildings and old world charm.”
Another visitor said: “The Broadway High Street simply shines with Cotswold charm. It has a village green and is lined with historic buildings and honey-coloured cottages with thatched roofs.
“Many of the houses were built in the 17th century, and some places, like the Abbot’s Grange and the Prior’s Manse, go all the way back to medieval times.”
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
