Hidden away on the wild and rugged Lizard Peninsula, lies a secluded and dramatic cove whose water glows with an astonishing, almost unbelievable turquoise hue.
The atmosphere here is one of profound isolation, as the beach is only accessible via a steep, winding coastal path that completely cuts it off from easy civilisation.
This untouched pocket of coastline feels more like a hidden Greek island than the cold, grey shores of the Atlantic.
The magical destination we’ve uncovered for your next summer holiday is Kynance Cove, a spectacular, deep beach nestled into the Cornwall coastline.
Famously celebrated for its dazzling serpentine rock formations and crystal-clear water, it is frequently cited as one of the most beautiful and exotic beaches in all of Britain.
This spot is the perfect place for keen walkers and swimmers seeking a secret piece of paradise.
Kynance Cove’s incredible secret is the startling geological feature of the serpentine rock, a unique, dark green stone found only in this remote corner of Cornwall.
The combination of this vibrant rock erosion and the brilliant white sand creates a stunning optical effect that makes the shallow water appear brilliantly blue, exactly mimicking the famous bays of the Mediterranean Sea or Sardinia.
At low tide, the sea reveals magnificent, eerie caves and sea stacks with names like 'The Drawing Room' and 'The Kitchen'.
For practical travellers, be warned that accessibility is challenging and requires navigating a steep, rocky descent from the car park, so sturdy boots are absolutely essential.
The main car park is situated high above the cove, managed by the National Trust, and it fills up incredibly fast during the holiday season, so an early arrival is vital.
Always check the tide times before setting off, as the entire beach and all its secret caves vanish completely when the sea comes rushing in.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
