The town has everything you could want for a traditional British seaside trip, and it’s only going to get busier in the future.
With the cost of living still high, more families are choosing staycations to save money.
Instead of flying abroad for sun and sea, the recent heatwave has shown that the UK can be just as good for a summer holiday.
One small town in the north of England, often overlooked, has been named as having one of the country’s best beaches. This hidden gem, a Lancashire seaside resort that was at its busiest in the 1950s, is starting to make a big comeback.
Tourism slowed after its glory days, but the £100m Eden Project Morecambe, due to open in winter 2028, is expected to bring huge visitor numbers back.
For now, those who prefer quieter breaks should know that Morecambe North Beach has already been ranked by the Daily Telegraph as one of the top 20 beaches in Britain, along with two other hidden gems.
Sitting on the Irish Sea, Morecambe North has wide sandy stretches, perfect for families, walking, and taking in the views. The promenade adds to the seaside feel with its ice cream stalls, arcades, and fish and chip shops.
The Telegraph explained: “Silting and changing currents mean tides rarely venture in, which is great for power kites and moody photos, less so for bathing,” reports the Express.

The Caesar was a navy ship used to find and recruit sailors, but it was caught in stormy seas and crashed into the headland at Pwll Du.
Some officers survived, but about 90 men who were locked below deck didn’t make it.
There are three paths that lead to the beach – two along the coastal route from the east and west, and another through Bishopston Valley.
The coastal trails offer amazing views of the Gower’s cliffs and sea, while the valley path is like a magical woodland walk, winding through trees beside a river that flows all the way to the beach.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
