On the Suffolk coast in England you will find this charming town, surrounded by quiet open land and known for attracting a few well known faces.
Set beside an unspoilt stretch of coastline, this hidden gem is a Georgian village that offers calm and tranquillity for anyone looking for a real escape.
Its neighbour Southwold is a busier spot for family holidays, while this village is the gentler choice for a simple, peaceful break.
What brings many people here is the wide sweep of heaths and marshland, as the village sits at the mouth of the River Blyth.
It leads onto a sandy beach backed by grassy dunes and a nature reserve that covers 1,000 acres.
In these special meadows you will find a natural habitat filled with otters, deer and a wide range of birds, perfect for anyone who enjoys wildlife watching.
But it is the people of the village who spark even more interest, as it has long attracted those working in the arts, film and media.
Last year, Grammy winning singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran shone a spotlight on Walberswick when he chose it as the filming location for one of his music videos.
The Suffolk born star featured the seaside village heavily in his Christmas song Under the Tree.
over the years. One of the best known is filmmaker Richard Curtis and his family, the creator of Love Actually, Bridget Jones and About Time.
He even dedicated his Christmas novel That Christmas to Walberswick and the festive seasons he spent there.
He said he spent much of the COVID 19 pandemic in their home in the village, taking long coastal walks.
Joining this well known group is Keira Knightley, who is thought to also own a home in the village after being spotted in several pubs and shops. Reports of her moving to the area first appeared in 2018, and she is not the only actor to enjoy this peaceful stretch of coast.
Remember - LeaveNoTrace!
As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
