Pretty UK village filled with colourful cottages and stunning sea views

A lovely village in Scotland has been named the most “picturesque” in the whole country, and it’s not hard to see why.

If you’re hoping to explore more of the UK on a weekend break, there are plenty of places to choose from, each with their own charm.

But if you want somewhere that looks like it belongs on a postcard, this place should be high on your list.

This coastal treasure in the Scottish Borders has even been praised by photo experts at ParrotPrint as one of the most beautiful places in the UK. It was the only spot in Scotland to make the list.

St Abbs is well known for its dramatic Berwickshire coastline and amazing wildlife, with a much-loved walking route leading to the St Abb’s Head Nature Reserve.

The impressive lighthouse, the volcanic cliffs and the wide open views over the North Sea are enough to leave anyone speechless.

No matter what the weather is doing, you can easily spend hours along the coastline, watching and listening to the thousands of seabirds that make their homes in the tall cliffs, reports the Daily Record.

The scenery is just as stunning inland, with colourful wildflowers scattered across the grassland, making the area feel peaceful and far away from busy town life.

One of the village’s main highlights is its small harbour, full of fishing boats and tour boats that take visitors out on the water.

St Abbs is also perfect for a relaxing walk, especially around the lighthouse, which has been highly rated by people on TripAdvisor.

One visitor shared their perfect plan for the area: “Starting at the National Trust for Scotland car park, take the short walk to St Abbs before starting the Lighthouse Walk. A pretty fishing village with lots of lovely places to take photos.

“Walk back towards the car park and follow the signs for the coastal path and lighthouse. The scenery along the five-mile route to the lighthouse and back is amazing.

Finish with a cup of tea and a slice of cake at The Old Smiddy next to the car park. A brilliant way to spend the morning or afternoon.”

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
