The pretty UK beach that’s a hidden gem just 6.5 miles from a stunning seaside town

There’s a lovely hidden beach in the UK that anyone wanting a calm summer break shouldn’t overlook.
This peaceful spot has gorgeous scenery, from tall coastal cliffs to small waterfalls, without the crowds you’d normally find at bigger, more famous beaches.
As its name hints, the cove lies at the place where the River Heddon meets the sea, and the whole beach is made of smooth, round pebbles.
The cove is only around 300 metres wide, and because it’s slightly tucked away, many visitors love how quiet and peaceful it feels.
One person who left a review on Google called it a “lovely place”.
Someone else wrote: “A beautiful hour-long walk to a hidden beach with amazing scenery, so worth the effort! There’s a handy car park at the start too.”
A third visitor, talking about the trail down to the shore, said: “This was a really nice walk down to the beach.”
Another added: “Wonderful short walk to the sea with impressive cliffs and a rocky shoreline. The path is easy to follow, but the stones can be uneven in parts.”
If you’re hoping for an active holiday, this is the perfect location. Heddon’s Mouth is great for walkers, and it sits only seven miles from the centre of Exmoor National Park.
The park is calm and full of rolling hills, with lots of walking routes of different lengths. You can even use a free digital map to help guide you on your way.
Exmoor is also known for having some of the clearest, darkest skies in the country, making it ideal for stargazing. On a clear night, you can spot thousands of stars, and even see the Milky Way stretching overhead.

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
