Stunning UK seaside spot at risk of being 'spoiled' by a 'hidden hazard' beneath the sand

A day at the beach is usually something to look forward to, but worries have been raised about the condition of one much-loved seaside spot. Visitors say a “hidden danger” is now lurking beneath the sand.
The problem has been highlighted on social media, where several people have posted videos showing piles of rubbish left behind in recent months.
One woman said the beach looked “ruined” after she spotted shards of glass buried in the sand, while other clips show the amount of litter people have dumped during the summer.
In one TikTok video shared by Bournemouth Official, beachgoers were urged to take their rubbish home. The footage showed the sand scattered with glass bottles, food wrappers, cans and other sharp objects that could easily cause injuries.
A message across the clip read: “Please respect nature. Respect the beach and take all rubbish home with you or use the bins provided. Thanks.”
The video has now been watched hundreds of times, and plenty of people have shared their anger. Many said they were “disgusted” by what they saw.
One person wrote: “Went for a walk Saturday evening along the beach and it was disgusting.” Another added: “It’s the same every year.”
Someone else said: “It’s too dangerous to walk on this sand barefoot. You never know if there’s broken glass or a bottle cap.”
Another person commented: “It’s awful seeing people throw rubbish everywhere. I told my kids that people are behaving worse than animals. It’s sad.”
For years Bournemouth has impressed visitors with its long stretch of golden sand, pretty coastline and lively town centre. Often called the UK’s “best” beach, it offers seven miles of award-winning sands and is well known for its clean shore and great facilities.

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
