Stunning waterfall hike just two hours from Manchester named among the most beautiful

With its peaceful woodland, tumbling waterfalls and sweeping views, it’s no surprise this spot has been named one of the most beautiful walks in the UK.

A new study by CEWE looked at walking routes across the country, using online research and Google review data.

Each location was judged on its star rating, number of reviews and the use of words like “beautiful”, “stunning”, “amazing” and “lovely”, all terms often linked to photogenic places people love to share and remember.

Aber Falls, found in Abergwyngregyn, North Wales, just two hours from Manchester, made the list of the eighty most beautiful walks in the UK.

Sitting at the northern edge of the Carneddau mountains, the waterfall is part of the Afon Goch river.

Getting there involves a three-mile trail through natural woodland, a fairly easy walk that takes around one hour and forty-five minutes.

The waterfall itself drops about 120 feet as the Afon Goch flows over a ledge of volcanic rock.

The route is mostly gentle with a few small uphill climbs. On sunny days, the scenery is already impressive before you even reach the falls.

As you get closer, you’ll hear the rush of water in the distance before catching sight of Aber Falls. When the full view appears, its beauty is truly breathtaking.

This magical waterfall is a sight to remember, and visitors can walk right up to it, making it perfect for photos.

The spot is so striking that it has even become popular for marriage proposals. Those wanting a longer walk can return via the North Wales Path, which loops around the head of the valley and back into the village.

Alternatively, you can visit Traeth Llanfairfechan Beach, just five minutes away by car. This peaceful stretch of sand, surrounded by hills, is a quiet escape with very few visitors.

Remember - LeaveNoTrace!

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!

Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
