A tiny UK village surrounded by waterfall walks, cosy pubs and welcoming places to eat is a spot full of history and charm.
Fewer than 600 people live there, although the number rises in holiday seasons when visitors arrive to enjoy the magical landscape.
Tourists from across the region love exploring the waterfall trail known near the village of Ystradfellte in Powys, South Wales.
This beautiful area, often called Waterfall Country, sits within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
One recent visitor said it was a great day out and even includes a waterfall you can walk right behind. There are historic inns to relax in, a 16th century church and plenty of places to rest or enjoy a meal, all set within stunning scenery.
TripAdvisor reviewers often describe The Four Waterfalls Walk as a day to remember with fabulous views, although some do mention that it can get too crowded at busy times.
A man from Cardiff, writing about the walk to the first waterfall, said: “One of the best walking experiences. It was a beautiful sunny day and we started from Cwm Porth car park. There was plenty of space to park.
“It was an easy walk but beautiful. We just followed the signs to the first waterfall, which took 20 to 25 minutes with breaks. Not crowded, peaceful, had a picnic and left only the footprints.”
Another TripAdvisor reviewer spoke of spectacular waterfalls with wild swimming spots, while someone else wrote that the area is Wales at its absolute best.
However, not everyone feels the same. One reviewer described it as probably the most overcrowded and disappointing walking experience.
They explained: “As beautiful as the waterfalls are, I really would not recommend this walk. We took our 16 month old in a back carrier and our dog on a lead. Our toddler was great, but with a dog on a lead and lots of other dogs off lead, it became quite stressful.
“Also, the crowds of people doing this walk made it overwhelming and not peaceful at all. There were so many people slipping and sliding after choosing the wrong footwear.”

As with anywhere outdoors, kindly keep these areas pristine and wild by taking all trash with you. The amount of complaints we have seen since the pandemic is crazy. It's really not that hard to take your rubbish with you!
Litter tends to spread, so if you see any and are able to pick it up and dispose of it outside the hidden gem, it will help keep the area tidy.
