Brits love nothing more than a festive stroll through a Christmas market, but some are more magical than others.
New research by Icelandair has revealed the most photogenic Christmas markets for 2025, ranking them by how many times they’ve been tagged on Instagram.
Taking the top spot is Edinburgh’s world-famous Christmas Market, which has gathered more than 58,100 hashtags under #edinburghchristmasmarket.
It’s closely followed by London’s Winter Wonderland with 46,500 tags. To make it even more special, Edinburgh’s market sits right next to the city’s spectacular castle.
Set beneath the dramatic outline of Edinburgh Castle, the market is a true winter wonderland filled with festive flavours, twinkling lights and traditional Scottish cheer.
The stunning views and cosy atmosphere make it one of the most photographed Christmas destinations in the country.
It’s easy to see why visitors can’t resist sharing pictures from the event. With the market stretching across Princes Street Gardens and the castle glowing against the winter sky, it’s the perfect setting for festive photos.
Edinburgh Christmas Market will run from 15 November 2025 to 4 January 2026.
The remaining top four Christmas markets are just as enchanting.
Winter Wonderland, London: Set in Hyde Park, this London favourite has earned over 46,500 Instagram hashtags. With dazzling lights, festive rides and a joyful atmosphere, it’s one of the UK’s biggest and brightest Christmas celebrations.
Bath Christmas Market: Surrounded by Bath’s Georgian buildings, cobbled lanes and elegant squares, this market oozes festive charm. With over 37,100 hashtags, it’s a picture-perfect spot to soak up Christmas cheer.
Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market: Right in the centre of Birmingham, this market has gathered over 22,600 hashtags. Visitors love its rows of twinkling stalls, German-inspired food, and cosy festive vibe, a dream for food lovers and photographers alike.
York Christmas Festival: Set among York’s medieval streets and historic walls, this market has more than 13,900 hashtags. With handcrafted gifts, tasty seasonal treats and a timeless feel, it’s one of the UK’s most magical Christmas spots.
