Underrated UK town with cobbled streets feels just like the Cotswolds but without the crowds

When people from overseas imagine classic British places, they often picture pretty villages with stone bridges, old buildings and beautiful countryside.
They want that cosy, rural experience, which is why areas like the Cotswolds have become incredibly busy.
Coach loads of visitors arrive in the tiny villages, which makes it hard to find parking or even a peaceful spot to enjoy the scenery.
Because of this, many people are now searching for different places to visit instead. Luckily, there are plenty of lovely alternatives.
A TikTok travel creator called Chris has recommended an underrated town in the Midlands for anyone who wants to enjoy a quaint UK destination without crowds of tourists.
Chris starts his video by saying he has found a “really perfect little town that looks just like the Cotswolds”.
The place he is talking about is Stamford in Lincolnshire.
With its charming cobbled streets, warm yellow stone buildings, lovely independent shops and impressive churches, Chris also shared some useful details for anyone thinking of visiting.
He explained: “From both Leeds and London, it takes about two hours to get there. It’s right next to the A1 but it’s so much more than a stop off on the side of the road."
"It’s got a busy high street, beautiful Georgian buildings and a history that goes all the way back to Roman times.”
Chris added that Stamford reminded him of English locations used in major Hollywood films, which makes sense because it has appeared on screen many times before.
